This year’s Thanksgiving dinner with the girls at Elks was nothing short of extraordinary! Together, we created a day filled with love, gratitude, and unforgettable memories, reminding these young women just how cherished they are as part of the Chicktime family. 🍁

Our incredible volunteers outdid themselves with a feast fit for royalty—ham, turkey, shrimp cocktail, greens, sweet potato pie, and so many other delicious treats. The joy on the girls’ faces as they enjoyed this meal was heartwarming. We gathered together to share what we’re thankful for, and hearing the heartfelt gratitude from the girls who are in a group home was truly moving. Their words touched all of our hearts and served as a powerful reminder of the difference we can make when we show up for one another. 🦃

But the day didn’t stop there! Dooley’s dance team from Oxford at Emory University led an inspiring dance lesson that had everyone on their feet. From practicing ballet moves to watching clips of various dance styles, the girls were immersed in the art of dance. Beyond the moves, the college students shared their personal experiences, offering advice and encouragement for the girls as they start to dream about their own futures. 🩰
This event was so much more than a holiday celebration—it was a day of connection, inspiration, and hope. The girls at Elks felt seen, loved, and empowered, and none of it would have been possible without our incredible volunteers and supporters. 💕

Thank you for helping us create moments like this that leave a lasting impact in our community. Together, we are changing lives and showing these young women just how much they matter. 💖 #chicktime #chicktimeconyers

October Update:

Today was an extraordinary day filled with joy and connection! It was Saturday, and we celebrated a fantastic fall festival with the girls. They got to unleash their creativity by painting and decorating pumpkins for a contest, with exciting prizes for the winners! We indulged in autumn-themed snacks and had a cozy movie day in the gym, watching Hocus Pocus together, all dressed in comfy pajamas.
But the magic didn’t stop there. Thanks to the incredible generosity of Smurfit Westrock, each girl received her own set of school supplies to carry her through the entire year. Their amazing organization gathered donations that have provided the girls with everything they’ll need for success this school year.
I am in awe of how this community comes together to lift these girls up, making them feel truly seen and loved. It is making a profound difference in their lives as they begin to recognize their own unique gifts, talents, and the potential they have to make a real impact in the world.
None of this would be possible without the unwavering support of our volunteers and community. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your care, compassion, and dedication to helping these girls break free from cycles of dysfunction, addiction, and abuse. Together, we are helping them step into a future full of hope and possibility!

September Update

When you’re committed to making a difference, expect to face fierce opposition. The enemy thrives on keeping people trapped in defeat, and when you try to help them rise, to heal, and to find hope, he will do everything in his power to stand in the way. Lately, that resistance has been relentless, and there have been moments where we’ve considered giving up.
But then, there are days like today—days that remind us why we must keep going.
Take today for example: we walked into the group home and found a young girl celebrating her birthday alone, without her family. Yet, in that space, we were able to make her feel seen, valued, and loved—despite her heartache of not being where she dreamed she’d be on her special day.
In an unplanned turn, I had the chance to share my story with the girls. It wasn’t on the schedule, but sometimes God has a different plan than we do. After I spoke, several girls came up to me, sharing their own struggles and telling me how my story gave them hope. To them, we aren’t just women who show up; we are women who love them, who believe in them, and who want to see them thrive—and they are listening. It’s a humbling, awe-inspiring reality.
Afterward, we worked on art projects focused on self-love, using words that affirm who they truly are. Positive, powerful words that they chose for themselves.
And at the end of the day, a young lady approached us, not only eager to know when we’re coming back, but also excitedly offering suggestions for our next workshop. Her ideas were incredible, and we’ll make sure her voice shapes what’s next. That excitement—that anticipation to see us again—shows how much it means to them. These girls have endured so much pain and trauma, yet they know they can count on us to be there, to support them, and to stand in their corner. We can see the difference it’s making in their lives.
So, no matter how hard the enemy tries to knock us down, we will not give up on these girls.
This is what we do at Chicktime. We are a sisterhood, united in service, dedicated to helping these girls break the chains of trauma and dysfunction in their lives—simply by showing up, loving them, and reminding them that they matter.
Today was a powerful reminder of that purpose. What an incredible day.

August Update

This is an amazing group of women showing up for an amazing group of girls! Over the last two years what I have seen in these women is that no matter the obstacle or the setback, there is nothing that will keep them from showing up and showing love to the girls at Elks Aidmore, Inc.. At the end of the day it’s not about the program, it’s about the presence. It doesn’t matter what activity is scheduled. The only thing that matters is that we continue to show up. It’s not about us being seen, it’s about us showing up so the girls feel seen, heard, and can take steps to healing. If you are looking to be a part of that, let us know. We are always looking for amazing women who want to change the world one person at a time.

July Update

Color War & Water Day was so much fun yesterday!
Watching these girls have fun and shriek with laughter was priceless!
It was a wonderfully messy day!

June Update

May Update:

Margo led a Mental Health Awareness workshop for the month of May and it was magnificent!! So much food. We had sub sandwiches, shrimp cocktail, chips and dips, sweet treats, fruit trays, and even some Krispy Kreme doughnuts that were still warm… 😋

Margo shared her experience with us and brought some fun activities to do with the girls. We made stress balls, we played mental health & wellness games, and each girl received a bag with mental health support activities in it. It was such an incredible day!

One of the young ladies at Elks turned to me and said, “Thank you for taking the time every month to come and see us and do these things for us. It means a lot to me.” I told her that is why we do what we do. Because we want the girls to feel loved and to make a positive difference in their life. And when they say things like that, it helps us to see that we really are making a difference.

Thank you to Elks Aidmore, Inc. for allowing us to come and serve these girls! Next month, we will celebrate our graduates and have a stem and science day! Make plans to join us!

April Update

Chicktime Saturday!!! THIS is the beauty of community partnerships!! Chicktime Conyers partners with Elks Aidmore, Inc. and the dancers from the ballet club at Emory at Oxford reached out to us to host a ballet workshop today. All three organizations worked together to make a positive impact in the community.  It was such a wonderful day!  The girls enjoyed learning about the art of ballet and learning some dance steps. They even had the opportunity to watch clips of several different ballets.

The girls from Dooley’s Dancers, the dance club at Emory at Oxford, did such a wonderful job teaching the girls, and they imparted some wisdom as well.  They quoted Mikhail Baryshnikov : “I do not try to dance better than anyone else. I only try to dance better than myself.” Not only does this apply to ballet, but really every area of life. They encouraged the girls not to get sucked into the comparison trap, but to try to focus on their own personal growth. Thank you, ladies, for coming out today and serving with us!

Thank you, Moniqueka Rucker, from the non profit, “Real Brothers and Real Sisters in Christ” for donating devotionals to the girls this month. So very kind!
If you are a local business or nonprofit who would like to partner with us and help make a positive impact in our community, we would love to hear from you! You can email me at heather@Chicktime.com

March Update

Chicktime Saturday with Cici was amazing!! Cici helped the girls at Elks, as well as the leaders, get some much needed rest- physically, mentally, emotionally. It was like a breath of fresh air. The girls came in with this frazzled sort of energy- it was very loud and at first the girls weren’t really quite open to yoga. But if you know Cici, you know what happened next. She led them through guided breathing and different yoga poses. Very soon the roomfell quiet as everyone was just resting mentally and physically. It was as if all of us had hit the reset button, including the girls at Elks.
Then Cici passed out cards that described what God says about us, or about who He is. Some of the young ladies who where the most resistant to participate in the beginning ended up sharing some beautiful things with the group. Everyone left feeling refreshed and calm. We would love to have you volunteer with us at Chicktime. If you have not been at a workshop, led by Cici, you are missing it!
Thank you, Elks Aidmore, Inc. for always allowing us the opportunity to pour into these girls! Cisilia Lenz

February Update:

We had an INCREDIBLE Chicktime event today!! we had a Galentine‘s Day event where the girls got to do a sip and paint activity. We had Valentine themed food, including Valentine donuts, sandwiches, and pizzas. We had sparkling juices for the girls to sip while they painted. Thank you, Ashley, for giving us a discount on your services so that we could provide this activity for the girls. They had so much fun! After painting, each girl received Valentine goodies such as candy, bracelets, and socks. I think the most incredible thing about the day was the number of volunteers who came out.
We had so many women coming out to show love to these girls that we actually had more volunteers than there were girls. What an amazing problem to have! Chicktime is growing you all! We’re hoping to grow into the surrounding counties sooner than later! Stay tuned!! Thank you Elks Aidmore, Inc. for giving us the opportunity to partner with you!

January Update

What an amazing writing and creative workshop we had today! The workshop was led by published author, Cia Lackey, and her husband, Pierce Lackey, an actor who has made appearances in Cobra Kai, Stranger Things, and Jesus Revolution, among many others. Thank you both for taking time out to share your creative talents with the girls! They absolutely loved this workshop. Cia read from her book of poetry, and as a gift, each girl received her own copy of the book. The girls really connected with Cia’s poems and it was great for them to learn how to use writing as an outlet to express themselves.  Pierce, while an actor, also does some writing, and was able to share his talents with the girls. Cia and Pierce also discussed with the girls their journey to become who they are today, a writer and an actor. These were things both Cia and Pierce had dreamed of since they were children. They encouraged the girls to never give up on their dreams. It was an incredible workshop and a great way to start off our 2024 Chicktime year.
The Newton Community Magazine also contributed to this workshop. Each girl received a journal and a copy of the magazine. They were encouraged to write down their story- even though it may not be finished yet. Each girl has an incredible story ahead of her and the journal is a way to record that, so that one day, others can learn of how each girl overcame her challenges and achieve her dreams.

Cia’s book of poetry is available for purchase on Amazon:
Thank you to Elks Aidmore, Inc. who continues to allow us to serve these girls. See you all in February!

Mark your calendars!! You don’t want to miss this one! We have two very creative and talented people coming to share with us in January! Cia Lackey, a published poet, will be coming to share her work with the girls and will lead the girls in a poetry workshop. Her husband, Pierce, a creative in his own right, is partnering with her to lead the workshop. Pierce is a successful actor and you may have recently seen him in the movie, “Jesus Revolution”. This is going to be a great day of creative expression! Can’t wait!!

DECEMBER UPDATE

What an amazing Chicktime Christmas party at Elks Aidmore!! I wish you could have seen the smiles, heard the laughter, and witnessed the absolute joy of these girls. We had such a fun day of celebrating together. Ms. Kat, one of our incredible volunteers, taught us about her family tradition that they do to celebrate Hanukkah. We decorated ugly Christmas sweaters, sang Christmas songs, and had a wonderful time together. Thanks to your donations, each girl received $100 in gift cards among other goodies. Thank you so much for your support and for helping us to give the girls at Elks Aidmore a great Christmas!!

November Update

𝗜𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗸𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗦𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘆 today!!
We made the girls Thanksgiving dinner and our 𝗮𝗺𝗮𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿, 𝗝𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗸𝗮,led them through a Thankful Jar activity.
Sometimes it can be hard to find things to be thankful for, 𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘂𝗺𝗮 or when the day is rainy and gloomy. We had both of those factors at play today, but 𝗝𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗸𝗮‘𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆
𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽𝗲𝗱 𝘂𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀, 𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀. 𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆! October Update

Spooky snacks, pumpkin painting, and fall games…
another great Chicktime Saturday!!
We love serving the girls at
Elks Aidmore, Inc.!!
See you in November!

September Update:

Ms. Cisilia led our Chicktime event on Saturday and it was incredible. She had a wellness event for the mind and body, and taught the girls some amazing techniques to practice self-care. The girls learned breathing techniques, some yoga positions, they learned how to journal their feelings, and take care of their bodies.

Each girl received her very own journal and yoga mat, and Ms. Cisilia had brought supplies for every girl to make their own lavender eye mask and rosewater spritz. It was a great day practicing physical, mental, and spiritual wellness. The girls loved it so much that they asked if they could do mental health checks with Ms. Cisilia every month. 💕 Thank you to Elks Aidmore, Inc. for allowing us to come and serve the girls. We love spending time with them!

August Update:

Our Back to School Bash was a success!! Thank you all for your donations of school supplies! The girls at Elks have enough supplies to last them well into the school year! Everyone brought snacks and Ashlee came up with some fun games for us to play! For one of the games, we had to lineup in alphabetical order according to our favorite breakfast cereal. The only catch was, we couldn’t say a word! That was a little tricky! 🤣 Thank you so much to Elks Aidmore, Inc. for allowing us to partner with them for the last 6 years! I can’t believe it has been six years already! In fact, we are about to start year 7! We have had the privilege of serving so many girls in that time and we pray that they have all felt the love of the Chicktime Sisters! We’ll see you in September! Can’t wait!

July Update

Our girl, Jenee’, organized such a fun game day at our Chicktime event today! Uno, Jenga, Connect 4, and Twister were just a few of the games. The big hit, though, was Culture Tags. That game made us all laugh hysterically. You should definitely check it out.. and definitely join us in August for our Back to School event!

June Update

Thank you to our guest speakers for coming and talking about their careers with the girls!
It was great to have the girls hear all that you said and for them to reflect seriously on their options for the future.
Great day!!

May Update

Thank you to everyone who helped us give the girls and Elks Aidmore a wonderful graduation party!
We had such an amazing day!
Each graduate received a $50 Amazon gift card and a few extra little gifts.
Some of our graduates could not make it today because they were either working or on home visits,
so we made sure to give their gifts to the house moms so they would receive them.
We are so proud of these girls and how hard they have worked to get where they are.
Thank you all for your support and helping us to do this!

April Update

Our color picnic was a success!!
So much food displayed in such a beautiful way! The girls really appreciated all the snacks! ???? .
Jessika also lead an art project with the girls called the “Tree of Strength”.
This activity helped the girls to identify ways they could cope with their feelings in a mentally healthy way.
It was a good reminder to them that there are some things that they can do and that they are not completely helpless in the situation.
We can’t always control how people treat us, but we can control how we respond to it.
Next month, we have five girls graduating from high school and we are going to celebrate them!
We would love to have you join us!

March Update

A great Easter brunch with our girls at Elks Aidmore!
We had to celebrate Easter early this year because by the time we go back, Easter will already be over.
We did a resurrection egg activity, played games, and had some good food.
Thank you to Ms. Moniqueka and her ministry, “Real Sisters and Real Brothers in Christ”
for blessing the girls with Easter bags.
We had such a great day with the girls and hope you will join us next time.
Next month we will be having a picnic and maybe have some outdoor activities.

Today was Chicktime Saturday and it was amazing!!
It didn’t go just like we had planned, but it went so much better.
We had an amazing speaker, April Adams, come and share her incredible story
about self love and overcoming so much to get to where she is today.
Because she was brave and shared her story, one of our girls at Elks
wanted to be brave and share hers too.
Just think about that. This young girl realized that these women
from Chicktime are safe and she felt free to share her story.
We do not take that kind of trust for granted.
Nothing could have prepared us for the story we were about to hear.
Abused, trafficked, assaulted, almost killed.
All before she was barely a teenager.
We all circled around this young woman and prayed over her.
It was a beautiful, tender moment.
This is why we do Chicktime.
We want to be there for these girls, speaking truth louder than the lies.
We want to help them find their voice, find healing,
find their purpose, realize their potential.
All the things. We also had Miss Georgia and Miss Georgia Teen come and hang out with us which we were all excited about.
They are such kind and beautiful ladies and we really appreciated them
taking time out of their busy schedules to come and spend time with us.
They reiterated the message of self love
which was perfect for our Galentine’s Day event.
We were supposed to decorate Valentine cookie houses,
but we didn’t get to do that because we were so wrapped up in sharing our stories.
I think that was much better. So we sent the cookie houses with the girls to do later.
We also gave each girl a box of chocolates for Valentine’s Day. Such a beautiful day!

January Update

Sharing snacks and sharing dreams!
That pretty much sums up our Chicktime Saturday making vision boards!
So fun! Our girls have some amazing goals they’re striving for
and we want to encourage them every step of the way.
From mental health goals, physical goals, career and family goals,
each girl had something different.
We love seeing these girls sincerely reflecting
on how they want to grow in different areas
and making a commitment to put it into action.

December Update

Today we got to go see our Elks Aidmore girls. To celebrate Christmas with them.
We had so much fun. We had lots of food and music.
We decorated ugly sweaters and they had a runway to show off their ugly sweaters.
Then it was time for Christmas gifts.
They are blessed from this community and we want to thank all of you
who donated to these young ladies. Thank you so much. God bless you.

November Update

Another INCREDIBLE Chicktime Saturday!! We cooked a Thanksgiving dinner for the girls… or something like that, LOL. We asked them back in October what they wanted for Thanksgiving dinner. We wrote it all down. And we all pull together and made them what they wanted for Thanksgiving. Some of that included sushi and plates of bacon ????.
We had a Chicktime family game day Where we all got to play different games together after eating our Thanksgiving dinner. Some of the girls made bracelets. And we had a volunteer, who is a professional photographer, bring in her cameras and talk to the girls about photography and show her cameras to the girls. They loved that!

We also had Moniqueka Rucker from Real Sisters and Real Brothers in Christ, Inc., come and talk to the girls and share her story. She also gave each girl a “bundles of blessing” bag. We appreciate her and those volunteer with her nonprofit so much!
Our awesome Chicktime leader, Jenee, was able to procure a large amount of feminine products for the girls- so we were able to bless them with that.We had so much fun that we actually stayed a little longer than we were supposed to. Neither the girls nor the volunteers wanted to leave. We can’t wait for December and our Christmas party! Stay tuned!

October Update:

What an AMAZING day!! It has been a few months since we last saw the girls. They were so excited to see us. There were many hugs and tears. One of the girls even serenaded us to let us know how much she missed us and that she knows we are looking out for her. Our leadership team showed up and loved on these girls and it was incredible to watch. Each girl connected with someone different on our team. It just goes to show the importance of having as many people as possible get involved with Chicktime. You never know which girl will connect with a certain volunteer.

They need all of us to show up for them. One girl came in and wasn’t wanting to participate. She was crying and really resistant to us at first. By the end of the workshop, she was smiling and laughing and hugging everyone. We are certainly thankful to be back and we have incredible things planned for the future! Thank you to everyone who voted yesterday! The girls really loved the contest

March Update

We FINALLY were able to see our girls at Elks Aidmore again!!!

They were so excited to see us. Lots of hugging and laughing going on.

Today we did a devotional about how God is with us even in the hard times

and how we can be honest with Him about how we are feeling.

Then we had snacks and played St. Patrick’s Day themed games such as

“What’s Your Leprechaun Name” and “Leprechaun Mad Libs”.

We had a lot of fun with the girls; we have missed them so much!!

February Update

We were not able to see the girls for Valentine’s Day, but we made sure they felt loved by dropping off Valentine gifts for each girl!

January Update

We couldn’t visit the girls at Elks this month because they had several who were sick. So we sent them inspirational coloring books, markers, and hot tea to help them feel better!

December Update

I don’t know if I have the right words to express just how much the girls at Elks Aidmore and we, the Chicktime leaders, appreciate your love and generosity.
Every girl was sponsored and received stockings, gift boxes, and gift bags of presents. The girls received toiletries, blankets, lotions, clothes, shoes, art supplies, hair products, and gift cards. The girls were shrieking (that’s the best word for it) with excitement. It brought tears to my eyes to hear how excited they were to get their favorite snacks as well as new makeup and clothes. They were completely overwhelmed with gratitude. I hate that I can’t show you their faces because their smiles would have made you cry.

These girls face so many challenges, they are untrusting and have their defenses up at all times. Rarely do they smile. Then Chicktime comes around. The girls smile, laugh, and act like the children they are instead of having to be grown up before they are ready. In fact, one young lady was so overcome with thankfulness that she serenaded us. I was sobbing inside. We had such a fun night singing karaoke and doing Christmas crafts. The girls didn’t want to leave the party because they were so happy. You did that for them. Thank you all so much.

November Update

Great Thanksgiving with our girls.
Thank you to all the volunteers.
They had a blast with the games!!

October Update

It felt so good to be back for Chicktime Saturday in person!
We provided snacks for the girls and tried to solve an escape room.
The girls filled out their Christmas lists and helped us plan events for next year.
It was a great day with such sweet girls!

September Update

Due to unfortunate circumstances, we were not able to drop off our September activity
and just received approval to be on campus for THIS Saturday!
However, we were able to meet as a leadership team
and start planning for 2022!
Great things are coming!

August Update

Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see the girls for our August workshop
due to rising Covid cases.
But we didn’t let that stop us from pouring out our love on them!
So for August, we dropped off supplies for manicures
and banana splits and called it “Manis & Bananis!”
When we dropped it off, the girls were so excited!

July Update

We had so much fun today with the girls!
We brought snacks and games and a karaoke machine.
The girls sang their hearts out today.
It brought tears to our eyes because they are so talented.
We felt like we were judges on America’s Got Talent
because these girls just began singing and bringing tears to everybody’s eyes.
And it’s so heartbreaking because the world may never get to hear their talent.
These girls have gifts and talents that God gave them, that the world needs,
and unless people invest in them and pour into their lives, they may never realize how gifted and talented they are
and never use their talents. So I pray if you’re reading this that you will get involved
because the girls need you. Because we need them.
We also played a game where we had to do the tasks on the card
which left us all cracking up. I might have prank called Pizza Hut today.
????
And we gave the girls book bags filled with school supplies.
We forgot to take pictures of that though.
We appreciate everyone who donated school supplies to help these girls get started back on the right foot.
It was an amazing feeling to see these girls filled with such joy today and having fun and relaxing and just being able to be themselves.
They don’t get to really do that a lot. So we appreciate everyone who made that happen.
Next month we will be doing slip and slide kickball along with a few other water games,
so let us know if you would like to volunteer with us.

June Update:

The girls at Elks really enjoyed the Olympic Games we set up for them last Saturday. We played frisbee golf, discus, roadkill, sponge relay, hula hoop relay, and many other games. We also provided hotdogs and chips and water. We just love showing up and spending time with these girls every month. Can’t wait until next month!

May Update

Thank you, Lisa, for sharing your testimony. It was such a great event for the girls!

April Fun:

Thank you, Selina and Deaf Heartbeat for teaching sign language to the girls at Elks Aidmore. It was incredible and I know they loved it!

Thank you also to those who prepared food for their Easter lunch and donated the amazing Easter baskets for the girls.

They felt so loved today. It is amazing every time we go. The girls come in and they seem a little down, definitely not excited. By the time we leave they are so happy to have us be there and are so thankful for everything that we bring.

Since we have been able to be back in person, I am seeing the impact that we are making increase significantly.

It is such a blessing to be able to love on these girls and to be used by God to help make an impact in their lives.

We hope you will join us next month.

March Update:

We finally got to see the girls again!! We had a great Poetry Jam and Spoken Word workshop! Thank you @Shaddái for hosting today!! Today they had an opportunity to tell their story. THIS is why we Chicktime. We want to communicate to each girl, “You are SEEN, You are HEARD, You are LOVED, You are NOT ALONE, You have PURPOSE.

We would love to have you serve with us and help these girls come to the truth that they are NOT FORGOTTEN!

February Update

Cupcakes and crafts!!!

Thank you to all of our volunteers who donated craft supplies and treats

so that the girls at Elks could have a Valentine’s party!

Look at those cupcakes!

My friend, Tonya, said that if we can’t see the girls face-to-face, we’re going to bring our faces to the girls!

Love it!! ????

When I dropped off the supplies, the girls were yelling at me from a distance

letting me know how much they missed us and can’t wait to see us again.

They are definitely feeling the Chicktime love! ????????❤️

January Update

Distance cannot keep us from connecting with the girls at Elks Aidmore!
Today we had a great day of making vision boards via Zoom!
Until we get to see them face-to-face,
we’re going to make sure that we connect with them in any way possible.
They created such beautiful vision boards for themselves!

December Update

The girls at Elks Aidmore were so appreciative of their Christmas presents
they received yesterday!
Thank you so much to everyone who sponsored a girl,
donated stockings, donated treats to use as fillers
(we used them!), and anyone who just helped to make Christmas special for these girls.
We were able to cook breakfast for the girls and each girl received a Christmas present.
So many people contributed to help with their Christmas
and it overwhelmed me to see
our community coming together for these girls. And you all do it every month.
You all are so amazing. We are blessed to partner
with such amazing people in our community.
We pray God will bless you tremendously for showing such love to these girls!
❤

November Update

Chicktime volunteers are INCREDIBLE!!
We started the month thinking we could make the girls
at Elks blessing bags with fun snacks.
THEN the volunteers decided to crochet scarves
and beanies by hand for each girl.
THEN they decided that we needed to make a Thanksgiving dinner for the girls,
so we all worked together on meats and sides.
We just dropped everything off and the girls were so excited!
Today I am so thankful to serve with such amazing women.

October Update

We FINALLY got to see our girls today!

It has been 8 months since we were last able to see them.

They were so excited about the fall fun we had planned for them.

Candy, cornhole, giant Jenga, a cake walk, and more!

They just kept thanking us for coming.

One girl said that she had been in many different group homes,

and no one had ever done anything like this for her before.

Another girl who had been relocated to Elks during Covid

(and had not actually met us yet) said she was so excited to say thank you to us in person

for all the drop offs and love we have shown from a distance over the last few months.

We are so thankful we were able to connect with them in person today.

Thank you to everyone who came and volunteered

or donated and helped make this possible!

September Update

Sweet treats and sweet words were delivered to the girls at Elks Aidmore today!!

We dropped off supplies for an ice cream bar which we know the girls will love.

We also were able to drop off 20 pieces of art created by Misfit Art
just for the girls at Elks.

My dear friend and talented artist, Kelley, prayed over each piece of art a

nd prayed for the girl that would receive that particular piece.

If you have not checked out Misfit Art, you definitely should.

Kelly takes pieces of wood that have imperfections and she makes them beautiful.

Just like God takes us with our imperfections and makes us beautiful.

On the back of each art piece she writes a scripture.

What an amazing ministry!

I know the girls will feel so loved when they receive their pieces of art!

August Update

How amazing that our volunteers filled multiple tables
with school supplies for the girls and Elks Aidmore!
We even had one volunteer who coordinated
getting backpacks for every girl and
having each girl’s name personalized on her backpack.
These volunteers are so incredible with their beautiful hearts!
Thank you all so much for your donations of supplies
and funds to help the girls at Elks Aidmore
get started on the right foot and
getting prepared for a good school year!

July Update

Taco Night was a success!!
Thank you to everyone who helped!
I didn’t actually take pictures of everything.
We had desserts and drinks and sides
in addition to the pictures shown here.
I saw the girls for just a second
and they were so excited about the taco bar.
They also said they missed us a lot and
can’t wait for us to come back
????.
I feel the same.

We are hosting a taco night at the end of July for the girls at Elks Aidmore.
Please let us know if you can help by donating any of the supplies listed below
or donating a few bucks.
We hope to have everything together by July 16th.
Thank you so much for your support! We could not do this without you! <3

June Update

We were finally able to deliver our water day basket to the girls at Elks Aidmore!
We’re not letting distance keep us from loving on our girls!!
Thank you to everyone who helped by donating funds or supplies for the water day basket!
We were able to get a slip and slide, water squirters, water balloons, bubble blasters,
water balloon hat toss, an obstacle course, and more!
I saw the girls at Elks Aidmore when I was dropping off the basket
and they were so excited!
Thank you for helping to put a smile on their faces!
You can help us in July by donating supplies for the fiesta.
We could not do this without you! <3

Chicktime Conyers has collected and donated puzzles, games,
activities, and food to take to the girls at Elks Aidmore.
We have also sent handwritten notes to the girls
to encourage them during this time.
We have encouraged our volunteers to send notes
as well to show love to the girls.
The girls have appreciated it greatly and they love getting mail.
They feel so loved even though we can’t be with them.

February Update

Our 50’s sock hop was a success!!
We had music, dancing, Coke floats,
Valentine crafting, and cookie decorating!
We taught the girls some dance moves and they taught us some.
What was really awesome was when some of the girls came dressed in 50s attire!
They had been looking forward to us coming
and had picked out an outfit just for the day.
We
❤ these girls!

That is what we are feeling right now as Chicktime leaders.
Overwhelmed with gratitude because of the outpouring of love that
this community has bestowed on the girls at Elks Aidmore.
We had such an amazing day yesterday.
Our Chicktime volunteers collaborated to provide the girls with a Christmas breakfast.
There was so much food!
We played a Christmas escape room activity, had a hot chocolate bar,

We never could have done this on our own,
but together we were able to do so much!
Thank you!!

November Update

What a great Thanksgiving Feast!!
Back in October, we asked all of the girls what their favorite Thanksgiving foods were.
So for our November event, we made sure to have every girl’s favorite food there
as we gathered together in a time of thankfulness.
It was such a fun time.
We appreciate all of our volunteers who worked hard
to provide such an amazing feast for these girls.
Thank you to Michele and her boys for donating gift bags to the girls
filled with toiletries and other cute items that the girls loved!

We had spooky snacks, fall games, prizes, slime making, and pumpkin painting!
We are so thankful to all of our volunteers for helping put this together.
Also, thank you to
Xtra Mile Food Bank for their snack donations
and to
Mitcham Farm for donating pumpkins for our event.
These girls had so much fun today and were able to just enjoy life
and not worry about the challenges they face every day.
They may not get to go out and participate in fall festivals,
so we brought the fall festival to them!
Join us next month for our Thanksgiving Feast!!

September Update

What an amazing day!!
I love how Chicktime is growing and partnering with the community to make an impact.
Today was a perfect example of that.
Thank you to

teaching our cooking class today!!

Thank you to

Thank you to the Rockdale County Schools Nutrition program for your do
nations of toiletries which will help the girls!
I heard one girl say that she didn’t like being in foster care or group homes,
but she loved it here. Because of Chicktime.
This same young lady has been at Elks for two years, and has never really spoken to us.
Last month, she came in and she started talking. It was a major milestone for her.
Then this month, she comes in and gives me a warm hug and is talking to me as if we have known each other all of our lives.
Another young lady showed us where she is starting an
encouragement , goal oriented club at her school.
This is what it is all about.
So thankful to be a part of an organization that inspires and helps these girls,
and I’m so thankful to all of you who volunteer and donate to help make an impact in your community!

August Update

Today was great!
It could not have happened without your clothing donations
or our amazing volunteer team.
I watched as each of our volunteers was interacting with the girls
and making special connections with them.

One girl, who has not spoken in almost two years, actually talked today!
It took that long for her to trust us.
We are in it for the long haul!
We hope you will join us for Taco Bar Fun in September!

November Update:

Another awesome Chicktime in the books! Shout out to all our beautiful volunteers ????

We had a great time hanging out with the girls of Elks Aidmore. Munching on fall snacks, playing games, making bracelets and memories. We had a time of gratitude and it was so touching to have everyone (and I mean everyone, even the caretakers ????) share.

There’s just something about getting a bunch of girls together and hanging out. It’s powerful, it’s a blessing.

It’s CHICKTIME. Join us at our next Chicktime event on December 8. Visit http://chicktime.wpengine.com/ for more info.

October Update:

What an amazing day!! Thank you, Amye, for taking time to share your crocheting skills with these girls!

I know we can’t take their pictures, but I wish you all could see their faces beaming with confidence at learning a new skill.

They were doing it so effortlessly!

It was nice for the girls to have their own bag of supplies, too!

Everything was perfect.

We played Heads Up and had a good laugh. Then they asked if we could come back every week. Those smiles and that joy makes every minute worth it.

September Update:

We had such a wonderful  time at our September workshop wth the girls at Elks Aidmore. Our leaders got to share stories that connected with the girls. We may not have the same exact story as the girls, but we have known hurts and have overcome them and are overcoming  them still. The girls totally connected with the stories. We were amazed at how silent the room was as we shared our experiences. It was amazing to share with them.

We played fun trivia games and spent some time coloring.

We had snacks, we laughed, cried, and had a really great time. We love being involved with Chicktime more and more. We would love for you to join us.

August Update:

What an amazing day!!! Thank you to everyone who made it possible!

We had so many volunteers and the girls got a ton of new back to school clothes. Garbage bags full.

They got new shoes, new jewelry, and they were able to get new make up as well.

They even had a make up tutorial.

With all the make up accessories they needed to try things out!

We had girls their own age speaking wisdom into their life.

It was an incredible day!

In addition to our Ice Cream Social we will be having a fashion show and a back to school shopping event in which the girls at Elks Aidmore can choose clothing that has been donated…(thank you)!!

It’s going to be a great one so don’t miss out!

July Update:

What an amazing day!

We played cards….

Made friendship bracelets and angle bracelets….and just hung out.

The girls really enjoyed having us there and were opening up to us. It was great spending time getting to know them better….and they asked our two favorite questions~

1- “Can you stay longer?”

2- When are you coming back?’

We are so thankful we get to spend time encouraging them!

June Update:

T-shirt designing and rock painting was a success!

Thank you to all the volunteers who showed up and helped this month! Can’t wait until next month!

Today was fantastic!!

Joyfully,

Heather

April Update:

What a great time we had painting with the girls at our April Workshop!

Each painting uniquely made from the heart….

It’s amazing to hear the girls talk about the connections they have made since we started our Chicktime Chapter and volunteering once a month at Elks!

They aren’t the only ones who feel connected ….

These workshops are life changing for the girls and well as the volunteers.

Join us as we continue our mission of intentional  love and encouragement.

March Update:

Today was incredible! We were so glad to spend time with our friends from Chicktime National as well as some amazing ladies starting a new chapter in South Carolina.

Here are just some of the beautiful Blackout Poetry/creative writing pieces that were created during our workshop~

Don’t the pieces  just take your breath away?

We had a great time with our girls  and we even got to celebrate a birthday!

Please join us next month and the month after that and so on! Let’s show the girls that they matter!

January Update:

We had a great Valentine’s Party with some amazing girls!

Today, we practiced the art of loving yourself. Each girl made a valentine card written to herself. It was such a great activity. Before they began, though, Chari read a poem by Charlie Chaplin called, “As I Began to Love Myself”. It is incredible. This is the poem. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=62oby83NtGw

These are just a few of the beautiful cards the girls made. We are so encouraged to see the number of volunteers is increasing as well as the number of girls participating. “Wrists are for bracelets, not cutting” is a quote from the last picture and certainly the reason we know we are called to help these young women reach their full potential!

We hope to see you next month!

January Update:

We had such a great time making vision boards with the girls.

We hope the girls will reflect on their boards daily and stayed focused on their dreams!

We can’t wait to spend time with them next month! Join us~
