June Update:

We were not able to meet this month. The girls had a graduation ceremony and had to work!

We will see YOU in July.

May Update:

At our most recent Chicktime event, Ms. Annette led a heartwarming and delicious cooking class at the Treasured Protégé home, where the girls had the opportunity to learn how to prepare a wholesome brunch. With the support of Ms. Geneva and Denise, the kitchen quickly filled with energy, laughter, and the irresistible aroma of homemade biscuits, omelets, and fresh fruit salad. The hands-on experience allowed each girl to take part in the preparation, discovering new skills and building confidence along the way.
The morning was about more than just food—it was about connection, creativity, and celebrating small victories. Watching the girls crack eggs, knead dough, and proudly plate their creations was a beautiful reminder of why we do what we do. There’s something so special about seeing them try something new and take joy in the results. This brunch wasn’t just tasty—it was a testament to growth, encouragement, and the power of shared moments.

April Workshop:

Due to unforseen reasons we had to cancel the workshop. We will try it again later in the year.

March Update:

On Saturday, March 1st, we had the privilege of joining the amazing young women from the Treasured Protégé house for a fun and creative Chicktime event. Together, we spent the morning painting birdhouses, turning simple wooden structures into vibrant works of art.
With paintbrushes in hand and plenty of bright colors to choose from, the girls let their creativity shine, designing unique homes for our feathered friends. Laughter and conversation filled the room as we bonded over art, self-expression, and the joy of creating something beautiful.
At Chicktime, we believe in the power of mentorship, support, and encouragement. Events like this give us the opportunity to connect, uplift, and inspire the young women of Treasured Protégé, reminding them that they are valued and capable of incredible things.
A huge thank you to everyone who participated and made this event special. We can’t wait for the next Chicktime gathering!

February Update:

Chickktme San Antonio Westside had a great time eating pancakes and making valentines for friends at our February workshop! It’s such an honor to be present for women who need a little extra encouragement!

January Update:

Sewing, Smiles, and New Friends at Chicktime SA Westside
The January Chicktime SA Westside gathering was a fun and creative sewing activity! While many of us found sewing to be quite the challenge, it didn’t stop us from sharing a few good laughs along the way.
We were thrilled to welcome a new volunteer, Alysia, who had a wonderful time connecting with the girls at the Treasured Protégé House. Her enthusiasm and warmth added even more joy to the day.

We’re already looking forward to our next Chicktime event, where fun, fellowship, and meaningful moments await!

December Update:

Friendship and Gratitude Shine Through at Chicktime SA Westside
The December Chicktime SA Westside field trip may have been rained out, but that didn’t stop the fun! Instead, we spent the day indoors, laughing and bonding as we created beautiful friendship bracelets together.
As we wrap up the year, we look forward to the holiday season with hearts full of gratitude. Whether rain or shine, the spirit of connection and joy continues to bring us together.
Thank you to everyone who makes these moments possible—here’s to friendship, community, and a bright year ahead!

November Update:

The recent Chicktime SA-Westside event at the Treasured Protégé House was a joyous gathering filled with fun, laughter, and a sense of community. As part of the Fall festivities, the girls celebrated one of the resident’s birthdays, enjoying pizza and cake to mark the occasion.
The highlight of the event was a spirited game of Pictionary, which brought out everyone’s creativity and competitive spirit. The game ended in a lively tie, with everyone still guessing what Ms. Lora’s sketches were meant to be—adding even more laughs to the day.
Each Chicktime event offers a meaningful opportunity to witness the girls’ growth as they transition from foster care to more independent lives. Seeing their excitement for the future and how they are thriving is truly inspiring for everyone involved.
With the success of November’s event, volunteers and residents alike are eagerly looking forward to next month’s Chicktime gathering to celebrate Christmas together.

Providence Place Website

A little history:

We were contacted by a lovely representative from Providence Place with an invitation to come to their campus and facilitate activities with them, this is her letter to Chicktime:

I am writing to you today about Providence Place. We are a faith based adoption agency in San Antonio but we work throughout the state of Texas. We have a 25 acre campus on Whitby Road and we also have several other programs that we work with and house on our campus such as a women’s rehabilitation program for substance abuse, we work with young adults with disabilities, and we have partnerships with several local organizations.

I’m writing to you because I have interacted with your organization when I was working at New Life Children’s Treatment Center in Canyon Lake. Your ladies, though I do not know if it was this chapter, came and made my teenage girls feel special. Your ladies did different activities, cooking, make overs, painting, movie days etc. with them on a monthly basis. The difference you made in their lives I got to see firsthand. It was so much fun and you made such a difference. You gave my girls who couldn’t leave campus and had felt worthless for so long feel beautiful and important.

In my department we work with women who are making the most selfless loving  decision to place their child for adoption so they can have a better life. Most of our ladies are in crisis situations and live here on campus with us or in apartments we provide for them. We have monthly support groups for them. At these we provide different activities for them to boost their self-esteem and surround them with love and support. I am wondering if Chicktime works with women or if your organization only works with ladies under 18?  Our ladies range in age from 16-35.  We have a small number of expectant mothers we range in number from 5-10 mothers at a time.  I am hoping that Chicktime might consider taking Providence Place under it’s wings and coming to spend some time with our ladies here and surrounding them with support.  If this is a possibility please let me know and I will come and do a presentation for your ladies on how we work with our ladies and what services we offer them. If not please let me know as well.

I thank you for your time and consideration. I hope you have a lovely day and a great weekend! 🙂

A  “silent” Chicktime workshop  was held at the new Treasured Protege and it was a great success. Managing Chicktime Denise and CEO of the Treasured Protege program Lora Williams joined the residents of the new transition house to make bead bracelets.  After that, we took our new manicure kits and did manicures with stickers and lots of fun colors. The workshop run-through only made us want to get things started as soon as we can!
