April Update:

Our May Chicktime activity at Treasured Protégée House brought beauty, confidence, and inspiration together in a truly special way.

We were honored to welcome Ms. Kat Franklin, a talented makeup artist known for working with local celebrities in television and media. Ms. Kat didn’t just bring her professional expertise—she brought encouragement, real-world insight, and a genuine passion for empowering young women.

During the session, Ms. Kat shared her career journey, offering a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to succeed in the beauty industry. She also gave practical, easy-to-follow makeup tips tailored specifically for job interviews and busy mornings—showing the girls how to create polished, professional looks without spending hours getting ready.

The highlight of the day was a full makeup transformation for one of the girls. Watching her confidence grow in real time was unforgettable. When she saw her finished look, her face lit up—she immediately started taking selfies, clearly proud and excited about her transformation. It wasn’t just about makeup; it was about seeing herself in a new, empowered way.

To make the experience even more meaningful, she was able to keep some of the Chica Beauty products Ms. Kat used, giving her the tools to recreate her work-ready look and carry that confidence forward.

This experience was a powerful reminder that sometimes, the smallest moments—learning a new skill, feeling seen, or simply having fun—can create lasting impact. We are so grateful to Ms. Kat Franklin and Chica Beauty for sharing her time, talent, and heart with us!

March Workshop:

We were not able to meet in March. See you in April!

February Update:

The girls work schedule and illness within the house prevented us from meeting this month. See you in March.

January Update:

Our January Chicktime SA-Westside gathering was a wonderful way to kick off the new year! We had the joy of spending time with one of the newest residents at the Treasured Protégé house, and it truly reminded us why this ministry is so special.

Together, we made friendship bracelets and used that time to talk, laugh, and learn more about each other. What started as a simple craft quickly became a meaningful opportunity to build connection and trust.

These moments matter so much, especially for girls who are transitioning out of foster care and learning that they are valued, supported, and deeply cared for.

We also shared about the exciting events we have planned for the year ahead, and the girls’ enthusiasm made us even more grateful for the opportunity to walk alongside them. Each gathering is a reminder that showing up consistently and with love can make a lasting impact.

We are truly blessed to be part of Chicktime and to spend time with these incredible young women. Our hearts are full, and we are excited for all that this year has in store!

December Update:

We did not have a workshop in December.

2026 promises to be a year full of love and hope as our Chicktime Chapter continues to serve the girls who live at Treasured Protege!

Mark your calendars for the first Saturday of every month and help us love where we live!

November Update:

A Joyful Fall Gathering with Chicktime SA-Westside at Treasured Protégé House

On November 1st, Chicktime SA-Westside hosted a beautiful fall event at the Treasured Protégé House that perfectly captured the warmth and creativity of the season. The day was led by our special guest, Geneva from Chicktime-Marion, who guided everyone through a delightful pumpkin-decorating activity.

Tables were filled with pumpkins of all shapes and sizes, ready to be transformed into colorful fall treasures. Using mod podge and festive autumn-themed paper, we joined in and created charming, personalized pumpkins — each one a reflection of their individual creativity and joy. Laughter, conversation, and a sense of calm filled the room as everyone shared stories and ideas while crafting together.

After the activity, Annette from Chicktime San Antonio surprised everyone with a beautifully prepared breakfast feast. The table was set with special care and featured delicious quiche, pastries, and fresh fruit, paired with chilled juice — a thoughtful touch that made the morning even more special.

The day was a heartfelt reminder of what Chicktime is all about: connection, creativity, and community. Spending time together, learning new crafts, and celebrating simple joys brought warmth to everyone’s hearts. It truly was a wonderful fall day — one filled with smiles, gratitude, and the comforting spirit of togetherness that makes each Chicktime gathering so meaningful.

October Update:

We had a stitchin’ good time this Saturday at Treasured Protégé!

Ms. Krystal introduced us all to the wonderful world of crocheting. None of us had any clue what we were doing—but that just made it more fun! Hooks were flying, yarn was tangling, and everyone was doing their best not to crochet their fingers together.

BUT… plot twist! One of the girls was acting totally clueless the whole time—pretending like she didn’t know a crochet hook from a fish hook. Then BAM! At the end of the activity, she casually pulls out the CUTEST little crocheted turtle that she made at another shelter! We were shook. Turns out she’s a crochet ninja and was just trying to make the rest of us feel better. We couldn’t stop laughing!

Huge thanks to Ms. Samantha and Laryssa for hanging out with us and adding to the fun!

Stay tuned for next month’s activity—who knows what surprise talents we’ll uncover next time!

September Update:

Big thanks to our September workshop leader, Donnette Tyler, who brought all the things for a super fun and creative journal-decorating session.

We had washi tape, scrapbook paper, composition notebooks, Mod Podge, scissors, and so many stickers—positive quotes, flowers, cartoons, letters, sports—you name it, we had it. The girls had everything they needed to make their journals completely their own.

One sweet girl shared that she’s going to use her journal to write poetry and make vision lists for her goals. How awesome is that?

And let’s talk about the snacks… We had Capri Suns, powdered and chocolate donuts, and chocolate chip muffins—a little sugar boost to keep the creativity flowing!

But the best part? The real conversations—raw, honest, hopeful. We talked about dreams, life experiences, and just showed up for each other. That’s why we do what we do—so every girl at The Treasured Protégé knows she matters, and that we’re here to listen and support her.

Already counting down to next month.

August Update:

Our August workshop focused on creating beautiful succulent gardens—and it turned out to be so much more than just planting!

As we worked with our hands, we also engaged in meaningful life discussions, sharing love, encouragement, and heartfelt stories. It was a time of connection and inspiration.

We enjoyed donuts and juice together, adding a sweet touch to a truly special day.

It was a lovely and uplifting time, and a true blessing to be planting seeds of love—both in soil and in each other’s hearts.

July Update:

Just a casual holiday weekend workshop…
No frills just intentional time at Treasured Protege doing what we feel called to do…. Love and encourage girls transitioning out of foster care.
Join us one month! Let’s do this together!

June Update:

We were not able to meet this month. The girls had a graduation ceremony and had to work!

We will see YOU in July.

May Update:

At our most recent Chicktime event, Ms. Annette led a heartwarming and delicious cooking class at the Treasured Protégé home, where the girls had the opportunity to learn how to prepare a wholesome brunch. With the support of Ms. Geneva and Denise, the kitchen quickly filled with energy, laughter, and the irresistible aroma of homemade biscuits, omelets, and fresh fruit salad. The hands-on experience allowed each girl to take part in the preparation, discovering new skills and building confidence along the way.
The morning was about more than just food—it was about connection, creativity, and celebrating small victories. Watching the girls crack eggs, knead dough, and proudly plate their creations was a beautiful reminder of why we do what we do. There’s something so special about seeing them try something new and take joy in the results. This brunch wasn’t just tasty—it was a testament to growth, encouragement, and the power of shared moments.

April Workshop:

Due to unforseen reasons we had to cancel the workshop. We will try it again later in the year.

March Update:

On Saturday, March 1st, we had the privilege of joining the amazing young women from the Treasured Protégé house for a fun and creative Chicktime event. Together, we spent the morning painting birdhouses, turning simple wooden structures into vibrant works of art.
With paintbrushes in hand and plenty of bright colors to choose from, the girls let their creativity shine, designing unique homes for our feathered friends. Laughter and conversation filled the room as we bonded over art, self-expression, and the joy of creating something beautiful.
At Chicktime, we believe in the power of mentorship, support, and encouragement. Events like this give us the opportunity to connect, uplift, and inspire the young women of Treasured Protégé, reminding them that they are valued and capable of incredible things.
A huge thank you to everyone who participated and made this event special. We can’t wait for the next Chicktime gathering!

January Update:

Sewing, Smiles, and New Friends at Chicktime SA Westside
The January Chicktime SA Westside gathering was a fun and creative sewing activity! While many of us found sewing to be quite the challenge, it didn’t stop us from sharing a few good laughs along the way.
We were thrilled to welcome a new volunteer, Alysia, who had a wonderful time connecting with the girls at the Treasured Protégé House. Her enthusiasm and warmth added even more joy to the day.

We’re already looking forward to our next Chicktime event, where fun, fellowship, and meaningful moments await!

December Update:

Friendship and Gratitude Shine Through at Chicktime SA Westside
The December Chicktime SA Westside field trip may have been rained out, but that didn’t stop the fun! Instead, we spent the day indoors, laughing and bonding as we created beautiful friendship bracelets together.
As we wrap up the year, we look forward to the holiday season with hearts full of gratitude. Whether rain or shine, the spirit of connection and joy continues to bring us together.
Thank you to everyone who makes these moments possible—here’s to friendship, community, and a bright year ahead!

November Update:

The recent Chicktime SA-Westside event at the Treasured Protégé House was a joyous gathering filled with fun, laughter, and a sense of community. As part of the Fall festivities, the girls celebrated one of the resident’s birthdays, enjoying pizza and cake to mark the occasion.
The highlight of the event was a spirited game of Pictionary, which brought out everyone’s creativity and competitive spirit. The game ended in a lively tie, with everyone still guessing what Ms. Lora’s sketches were meant to be—adding even more laughs to the day.
Each Chicktime event offers a meaningful opportunity to witness the girls’ growth as they transition from foster care to more independent lives. Seeing their excitement for the future and how they are thriving is truly inspiring for everyone involved.
With the success of November’s event, volunteers and residents alike are eagerly looking forward to next month’s Chicktime gathering to celebrate Christmas together.

A  “silent” Chicktime workshop  was held at the new Treasured Protege and it was a great success. Managing Chicktime Denise and CEO of the Treasured Protege program Lora Williams joined the residents of the new transition house to make bead bracelets.  After that, we took our new manicure kits and did manicures with stickers and lots of fun colors. The workshop run-through only made us want to get things started as soon as we can!
