Why I Volunteer with Chicktime:
I have always had a heart for children in the foster system. I was a foster parent and a CASA for several years, and Chicktime gives me an opportunity to again serve these children.
What are my passions/gifts:
Serving, sharing and encouraging through the gift of faith.
What are my hobbies/interests:
I love studying God’s Word, reading, Pilates, spending time outdoors and with family and friends.

Why I Volunteer with Chicktime:
I do not know what a life without service is! My parents started me out young volunteering with my church and other places around town. When I was 12 years old my mother took me to my first Chicktime workshop and I was hooked! I realized then the impact of just showing up ! When I went away to college I missed Chicktime . It’s good to be back in San Antonio and volunteering and leading workshops again!
What are my passions/gifts:
I have a passion for making people feel connected and included! This is usually done with lots of laughter, listening , planning gatherings or outings !
What are my hobbies/interests:
I love to travel, karaoke, try out new restaurants or hot spots around town, play games ( cards, dominos, board games), go see musicals and play pickle ball!

Why I Volunteer with Chicktime:
I feel uplifted and inspired by the girls at Boysville. Each girl has a unique personality and I love to be able to share time with them. They have so much potential and they deserve all the love we can give. I love volunteering as it is a way of giving back of some of the blessings God has given me.
What are my passions/gifts:
I feel my gift is to be a good listener and a humble loving person. I love to see the positive in every situation and not focus on the bad. I have much love to give and that doesn’t cost anything. Like hugs, time well spent with friends, family or anyone who needs it.
What are my hobbies/interests:
I am a workaholic, and I love my job! But on my free time, I enjoy time with family and friends. I like to workout. I like short time challenges that you can achieve and make you feel accomplished. I love simple things like a good chocolate, coffee, a good movie, a day at a park or a good night watching the stars
Why I volunteer with Chicktime:
I said yes to leading this workshop because I believe movement helps us feel strong, confident, and worthy. Fitness has shown me the power of showing up for myself, and I want to pass that on every chance I get. I also love seeing Black women come together—not just to fellowship, but to uplift our communities.
My hobbies/interests:
Fitness is one of my favorite ways to take care of myself—it clears my mind and strengthens my body. I also find so much peace just sitting outside in my backyard, soaking in quiet moments. I enjoy singing, reading, and listening to music that feeds my spirit. I’m drawn to anything that brings balance, growth, and good energy. And I’m at my best when I’m around women who love, laugh, and uplift one another.

Why I Volunteer with Chicktime:
I grew up doing lots of community service and volunteering. As my kids grew up I was active in their schools, sports, and activities. Now that my children are grown I have the opportunity to volunteer again.
What are my passions/gifts:
My son struggled with emotional regulation and anger management. Searching for help and options I found a program through Cornerstones of Care. They provided in home counseling for my son and our family. At one point, he ended up in residential care there for four months. Chicktime KC working with the girls in Cornerstones of Care’s residential program seemed like a natural fit given my history with the organization. Working with girls is nice as I have two boys.
What are my hobbies/interests:
I like to travel, read and spend time with family and friends. As I was diagnosed with early onset Parkinson Disease I’ve also become more active in that community.

Why I volunteer with Chicktime:
I have felt called to serve nearly my entire life. As a kid my Mom would take me to a local nursing home and I would hang out with the residents there. I became a nurse to heed that same calling to help others. As a mom to three (now adult) children I have always tried to put forth a good, Christian example of caring for my fellow man without limitations.
What are my passions/gifts:
I LOVE children! I have been greatly blessed with many gifts. Empathy, faith, & an open heart as well as being a skilled nurse are done of my God given gifts. I have spent 37 of the last 40 years as a nurse caring for infants, children and their mothers in various settings and currently work as a study nurse to further medicine & medical devices for infants and children. I was always the one who volunteered at school for many different activities for all 3 of my kids’ classes. I also read to the 2nd grade classes at a Boerne grade school – they are so much fun!
What are my hobbies/interests:
Dogs(our, now old rescue, Whiskey in particular) travel, baking, cooking & spending quality time with my family and friends are a few of my favorite things! I love to see new places and things, especially historical &/or religious that bring me closer to God. Feeding people is also a favorite thing/passion, it brings me so much joy to see someone enjoying something I’ve made for them! Although I seem to get there less often than I’d like, Chicktime is very special to me bringing me to such sweet girls and fellow volunteers.

Why I Volunteer with Chicktime:
I am committed to spreading hope, positivity, and love, aiming to uplift and empower others through compassion, empathy, and unity. So much of why I volunteer is summed up in 1 John 4:19 of the Bible.
What are my passions/gifts:
Teaching children and serving others brings me deep joy, as I strive to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those around me.
What are my hobbies/interests:
In my free time, I pursue a passion for collecting antiquities and vintage items, which has grown into a small business fueled by my love for history and a desire to preserve its treasures.

Why I Volunteer with Chicktime:
I serve because I believe every person deserves to feel seen, loved, and supported. Volunteering—especially through Chicktime—has been part of my life for as long as I can remember, and it’s shown me just how much of an impact kindness and compassion can have. Serving these girls brings me joy and reminds me that even the smallest acts of love can change someone’s life.
What are my passions/gifts:
I’m passionate about people! Whether it’s offering a listening ear, sharing a laugh, or encouraging someone who needs it, I love being a source of joy and support for others. I believe one of my God-given gifts is the ability to make others feel welcomed, valued, and cared for & I try to use it daily!
What are my hobbies/interests:
Making people feel seen is my favorite hobby— every smile is worth it. Whether it’s baking their favorite dessert, sending a thoughtful text, or simply being a listening ear – That is what really fills my cup! I also love spending time with family and friends, enjoying live music, or hanging out with my dog!
