Why I serve a leadership role with Chicktime:

At the beginning of the Pandemic, I was looking for a way to share of myself and bring hope and love to others in a time that was challenging for everyone.  I found Chicktime on our company’s volunteer website and was immediately encouraged with the mission of ““encouraging women to develop their passions and use their gifts to make the world a better place for the next generation”.  The Kansas City Chapter was not able to meet with the girls onsite at this time, so for several months I provided craft supplies and games that the girls could enjoy and know that we cared about them.  When the opportunity came up to rebuild and lead the Kansas City Chapter, I prayed on it and God led me to step in.  As we are now beginning to spend time with the girls onsite, we are being blessed with spending quality time with them.

My passions and gifts:

In my day job, I am passionate about helping my team members develop their strengths and skills to grow their careers.  I am excited to be able to do the same for the young girls in our community that need support and help from those that truly care about them; to engage other talented women willing to share their gifts and skills with others and make a real difference.

My hobbies and interests:

My husband Don and I have been blessed with three adult children and a son-in-law and are now grandparents to Liam who has truly stolen our hearts.  My husband is a Wildlife Biologist and I am an Operations Group Manager for a bank that I have been with for 35 years.  My hobbies include crocheting, hiking, fishing, and studying the bible with a ladies group.  I love spending time with my family and traveling.

Why I serve a leadership role with Chicktime:

Growing up my mom had a daycare, so I have been around kids my whole life. I have always felt drawn to serve children in some capacity.  I love their authenticity and honesty. I believe much of the brokenness in our world is cyclical. We are all doing the best we can, with what we know. It is my hope to be a positive light when spending time with children and that it may disrupt any negative cycle, in a small way. I want to show them the love of Jesus and that no matter what they go through, they are so loved and worthy.

My passions and gifts:

I am passionate about living a fulfilling life. I have learned over the years that life is short, and life is hard. I strive to surround myself with positive/uplifting friends and try to look for opportunities to serve others. God has given me the gift of empathy. I try to the best of my ability to use it to cultivate meaningful relationships.

My hobbies and interests:

I enjoy spending time with my family, friends and my two yorkies. I go camping with my family on the weekends, quite often. Most of my friends have small children, so I enjoy spending time with them and spoiling them. I also have two nieces that I try to spend as much time with as possible. I enjoy running, going to church, and shopping.

Why I serve a leadership role with Chicktime:

For a number of years, I have focused most of my energy on raising my children and my career. Prior to the pandemic, with our kids being grown and out of the house, I was looking for an opportunity to get more involved with volunteering and finding meaningful ways to give more to the community where we live. My sister encouraged me to get involved with Chicktime when the opportunity came up to return to face to face activities with the girls, and I have enjoyed being able to spend time with them and help them see that there are women in the community who care and want to see them succeed and find joy in life.

My passions and gifts:

I am passionate about problem solving and working as a team to accomplish goals and developing talent and leadership skills in others. I’ve been blessed with faith, a loving family, and a career in finance that I enjoy.

My hobbies and interests:

I love to cook and bake , especially trying new foods and recipes, and enjoy sharing what I make with family, friends, and coworkers. I also love traveling, watching old movies and reading.

Why I serve a leadership role with Chicktime:

I first volunteered with Chicktime in December of 2018 after seeing Facebook Friend’s post.  Except for during the height of the pandemic, I have been volunteering regularly.  When I saw that the group was meeting again, I was excited to be able to volunteer again.  I decided to serve a leadership role because I believe in the purpose of Chicktime and felt it was time to do a little more than volunteer.  I believe in giving and sharing and I am inspired by the leadership that has chosen to keep our chapter active.

My passions and gifts:

I consider my gifts to be caring, positivity, patience and creativity.  It takes caring to be able to put effort in what we do and in who we love.   Creativity allows me to think outside the box and find solutions to problems that may not be so apparent to others.  My positivity allows me to see beyond the problems that we can fix and await resolution. This too requires patience.

My passions include protecting and prolonging the wellbeing of our environment. I believe in the three R’s- Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.  I practice these daily whether it’s sorting my recycling or mending clothes for myself or family to keep that item out of the landfill.  My goal is to contribute as little as possible to the landfill.

My hobbies and interests:

My hobbies include sewing, gardening and working my Sudoku Puzzles.  Sewing and gardening make me feel productive.  And working my puzzles relax me.  I also enjoy cooking and feeding delicious food to my family.
