Where We Serve

Latest update~ Jenkins has closed and a new charity partner needs to be found by new leadership team.
In March of 2017, Chicktime Charleston began serving The Jenkins Institute.  We could not be more blessed and thankful to have the opportunity to spend time with these children every month!  We also consider it a privilege and honor to work with The Jenkins Institute.

Their MISSION is to promote and support the social and economic well being of children, families, and individuals to enable them to become productive and self-sufficient persons in their communities.

Their VISION for Jenkins Institute is to “Rekindle the Jenkins Dream – to Reform and Improve the Lives of Children and Families!”

Jenkins Institute, previously known as Jenkins Orphanage was founded, December 16, 1891 by Reverend Daniel Joseph Jenkins. In July of 1892 it was chartered by the State of South Carolina with the mission of providing a safe, secure, loving home environment for orphans and destitute boys and girls in need.  We currently care for teenage girls, teen mothers and their babies.

Jenkins exist to provide a safe environment, professional counseling, educational services and family assistance & administration that maximizes resources for the girls who it home. Why did Chicktime Charleston choose to support The Jenkins Institute?  The call to serve these young girls was very strong.  TJI  reaches out to young women who are in the tween/teen stage of emotional development.  The chance to love these girls and to help build their confidence is such an awesome gift.  You see, there are two reasons that a “chick” joins Chicktime. One, she loves to love and feels called to serve the broken and hurting in our community. Reason number two is that she refuses to be a victim any longer and when she finds that pink Chicktime logo… she finds comfort in knowing that she will not be judged… she will be accepted… she will be loved!

While we absolutely adore the children we serve every month… never missing a month… we all fall into one or both of those categories mentioned previously and we all feel that the change starts with us… the mothers… the wives… the sisters… the daughters… and in order for all of the women in our community to begin to understand just how incredibly amazing that they are, we have to show them. We are happy to serve these special girls and to make the events just as special.
