Splish Splash

The North Carolina National Guard guys swam, played basketball and whatever else the boys wanted to do. The Knippa Volunteer Fire Department grilled for us and fished with the boys. The Chief worked with the park supervisor and got them to loan us a spot, paddle boats, fishing rods and bait as well as reserving parking area for fire truck and ambulance. The Concan VFD Chief brought a fire truck and gave demonstration to boys. The Concan EMS brought their ambulance and we had to use it for a minor cut.

The park Rangers and volunteers were amazing. Dirk Foshee is familiar with the ranch and excitedly came over and offered us a hat ride which we gladly accepted.

At the end we stood around in a circle and, which the boys gravitated to on their own while talking with the Guard guys. All the men imparted some knowledge, inspiration and words of wisdom in those young men’s ears.

Workshop leader, Dolly, said her heart was full of joy just watching all this take place.
