April Update:

What a wonderful morning spent with the girls at Ozanam! Maria led a fantastic sewing workshop with three stations. 

At the first station, each girl learned how to sew on a button and how to fix a tear in material by hand. Most picked up this skill quickly and enjoyed helping the younger girls master threading needles and tying knots.

At the second station, they learned how to run a sewing machine and made their own pillow cases! A couple of the girls were apprehensive at first but soon got the hang of it and beamed with pride at the result! One commented “I feel so accomplished!”

At the final station they learned how to draw and design an outfit and had the opportunity to use a mannequin to try laying on material to design a dress. We were so impressed with their design skills, we may have future fashion designers in our midst!

All of the girls were fully engaged in every station and they, along with our volunteers, took away valuable life skills!
