Where We Serve

Wiregrass Children’s Home provides a safe haven for neglected and abused children throughout seven counties in the Wiregrass area of Southeast Alabama. Their presence affords these children the loving support they so desperately need in the midst of their crisis, as well as a window of hope and a promise for a better tomorrow.

WCH is the only licensed emergency shelter in the Wiregrass area providing care to children birth to 18 years of age.  Their goal is to extend as much love and comfort as possible during this critical time in a child’s life, reaching out to meet their every need whether it be physical, spiritual, emotional or mental.

Since opening our doors in 1989, the Wiregrass Children’s Home has served more than 700 children; some for only one night, yet others for multiple years.  They are capable of caring for up to 10 children at any given time, with placement being coordinated through referrals from the Alabama Department of Human Resources.  WCH welcomes boys and girls, as well as siblings, providing the first step to a new life and the rebuilding of a new future.

The Wiregrass Children’s Home ministers to abused and neglected children of the Wiregrass Area. Along with providing food, clothing and shelter to those children, WCH believes in offering a happy, loving and secure Christian environment – ultimately a Bridge to Brighter Futures.
