Clarksville Chicktime Leader

Why I serve a leadership role with Chicktime: I make serving in the community a priority in my life. It is so  important for those who are able to support those who are less privileged due to lack of resources, life circumstances, or oppression and  discrimination. I have big ideas, big goals, and a big heart. I want to share them with the world. By serving in a leadership role with Chicktime, I hope to pave the way for other like-minded women,  giving them opportunities to get plugged into the community and spread love to those who need it most.

My passions and gifts: I am a  listener and a learner. I love to learn about people’s stories and  how they overcame what seemed like impossible circumstances. I am in school to become a counselor and I plan on working  with families with significant life stressors to help them build resilience and thrive despite the challenges life brings.

Hobbies and Interests: I enjoy  reading, talking walks, painting, dancing, and cooking. I aim to make  the most out of life’s little pleasures. I also nurture a deep and  meaningful relationship with God and the world around me through art,  mindfulness, and close relationships. I have a wonderful marriage with  my loving partner Karl and we have a greyhound named Quantum. We enjoy hosting events and opening our home as a safe haven to friends and family.

Why I serve a leadership role with Chicktime:  I serve a role as a leader in Chicktime because I believe in what Chicktime stands for. I believe in giving back to others and using the gifts that God has blessed me with.  The Lord calls us to serve others and to use what we have to help those who are not as fortunate, and working with people, talking, and building relationships with them is just one way that I am able to show the Love of Christ to others.  It’s a blessing to be able to work alongside other women and encourage them to use their gifts that The Lord has provided them with as well.

My passions and gifts: My true passion is to be a Marriage and Family Therapist. I love talking to people and listening to their stories. People come from all different paths in life and it’s amazing to hear how their journey has brought them to where they are today. Currently I’m in Graduate school studying Marriage and Family Therapy in order to make my passion become a reality. My greatest gift The Lord has provided me with is the gift of empathy and being able to work with others allows me to use that gift to the best of my ability.

Hobbies and Interests:  I enjoy a variety of activities such as walking, biking, hiking, fishing, reading a good book, listening to music, singing, skydiving, dancing, cooking, talking, or just hanging out with friends. I also love to play my violin in my spare time.

Why I serve a Leadership role with Chicktime: I currently serve for several reasons. Maybe they are selfish, but I am blessed beyond measure by giving just a little of my time to the children in the Clarksville area. As a retired psychologist, I’d like to think I can offer a little understanding to these precious children and a lot of love — though they usually outwit me. We have a blast enjoying one another’s company and building friendships with the children, as well as with the leaders and volunteers. By having monthly activities, the children are exposed to different cultures and experiences they may have not otherwise afforded if Chicktime were not in Clarksville. I believe that all children deserve love, and if I can provide that I will be more than happy to love them.
My passions and gifts: My passions are serving the Lord, writing, drawing, and serving the community. I especially love working with Military veterans, this comes as a result of serving in the US Army for ten years myself. I worked with veterans for a number of years as a psychologist at the Veterans Affairs (VA) Hospital in El Paso, Texas and at the Blanchfield Army Community Hospital in Ft Campbell, Ky.
Hobbies and Interests: My hobbies and interests are cooking and being with my seven children and two grandchildren. I have three 22-year-old daughters, three 23-year-old sons, and one 30-year-old son. My oldest son is Special Forces at Fort Campbell and the father of my precious grandchildren, Alexus (10) and Ashlyn (5). Four of the youngest are in college, two are studying sociology, one is studying pharmacology, and one wants to become a surgeon. My grandchildren are my pride and joy, and my reason for living.
