About Our Chapter

I was raised in a loving family who has always had a heart for helping people. When I was younger, I never understood why serving others was so important to my dad. Either he was lending a hand to repair something, gathering donations for someone in need or cooking meals around the Holidays so that everyone could have a hot meal. Dad never used the word service when he spoke of these acts, he called it loving God’s people. So, in 2017 when my dad transitioned from Labor to Reward, I wanted to do something to honor his memory and to emulate the love for God’s people that I learned from him.

Growing up as a young girl, I always looked up to my dad to be the model male figure that I needed. He was always loving and gentle toward me. Although I was blessed to have that positive figure in my life, I understood at an early age that not every girl had the same positive experience that I had. My heart’s desire has always been to connect and form a sisterhood with women and girls whose life circumstances have placed them in situations that may leave them fleeing from domestic violence, recovering from different types of abuses or dealing with multiple physical and mental health challenges. I feel that there is a wholeness in the dynamic of sisterhood where motivation, empathy, encouragement and celebration can be extended without criticism. My goal is to offer unconditional love, support and time to these women and girls to teach them that they are empowered and valued while motivating them to find the purpose God that has placed within them. I simply want to love God’s girls.

We are excited about bringing Chicktime to Syracuse and we are extending an invitation to women who have the heart and the passion to share the vision of impacting and enriching the lives of women and girls who are at risk and who are in transition. We invite you to join us once a month to offer women and girls positive and authentic interactions by using your individual talents and gifts. Perhaps you can lead a workshop or work behind the scenes in one, no talent or gift is too small. Even if you are unsure of your gifts, join us, and you will develop it along the way. We are not looking for perfect volunteers, but simply volunteers who are committed and enthusiastic to enrich the lives of the women and girls we will serve and to simply love God’s people.
