Please join us at the Florida Baptist Children’s Homes this upcoming Saturday, September 7th for a relaxing 2 hour introductory activity session of Ashtanga Yoga with Cesi Lainez.

Ashtanga yoga is the branch of yoga that analyzes the mind and aims to gain control over it. This type of yoga was systematized by Sri K Pattabhi Jois in Mysore India. Ashtanga yoga literally means the path of 8 limbs and it is also known as Raja Yoga(which means king or highest,of yoga) because it’s based on 8 principles that lead to the purification of the mind and body in order to achieve the self or Atman.

Cesi, a Raja Yogi herself, will be teaching and sharing with us her love for this practice, by introducing us to the primary(or first) series, as it consists of 62 other postures. Cesi has expressed her desires and passion to be able to share this gift with Chicktime’s volunteers and the children we serve!

Raja Yoga’s first series deal with the following:

Yamas
Non-violence

Truthfulness

Honesty, non-stealing

Non-covetousness

Moderation in all sensual pleasures

Nyamas

Physical and mental cleanliness

Contentment

Austerity, self discipline

Study of the scriptures

Surrendering to God

If you’d like to join us, please bring a yoga mat, or two (to share), and wear comfortable pants along with your Chicktime shirt. If you do not have one of our inspiring shirts yet, they are always available on site for a $20 donation.
