About Our Chapter
Welcome to Chicktime SA Southtown! I am so happy you are here and learning more about the work we do with the children at Healy Murphy’s Early Childhood Center. Our chapter functions a bit differently as we are focused on prevention by coming alongside families to help raise resilient children!
As a first-generation immigrant who grew up in a third-world country and had to overcome many challenges to reach my dreams, I want to inspire and help others to believe in themselves and their dreams. God has created each of us with a purpose, intentionally, uniquely, and in His own image, making every individual a “masterpiece.” I want to serve the Lord by reminding everyone they are God’s masterpiece. You are God’s masterpiece and I can’t wait to get to know you and serve alongside you!
Please reach out to learn more and get involved!
Joyfully,
Giselle Vasquez

Our History:
Lori Rhodes was originally inspired to launch Chicktime SA Southtown partnering with the Dolly Parton Imagination Library literally within 24 hours of learning about the opportunity to get FREE BOOKS in the hands of eligible children.
As a past teacher, life-long learner/reader, mother of three and grandmother of five Lori sees the JOY of books and the benefits of reading every single day and believes prevention is the absolute best tool in stop abuse and neglect in our world. Our chapter was founded on this belief: while we can’t do everything we can all do something. Arming children with a passion for reading goes a long way in empowering their sense of resiliency! As a survivor of child abuse/neglect, Lori knows books made a profound difference in her life. The chapter incubated in the Healy Murphy Center and our volunteers and founder fell in love with the mission of the center and together made the decision to transition the chapter into a full time partnership. You can still find Lori out in the community promoting literacy and she continues to volunteer with our chapter!
