Meet The Leaders

Why I serve a leadership role with Chicktime:   

There was more than one ‘need’ to be fulfilled; the kids, the NBDT Chapter, and mine.  

I had been long considering where I could make a difference locally.  

I had no idea a children’s homeless shelter existed in my community until a neighbor asked for craft donations and volunteers one evening.  In attending one workshop, I met kids that probably needed much more than I could give or fix, but we weren’t there to solve all of the problems.  Instead, we were there to provide love, kindness, positive role models, maybe a new skill, motivation, and just some quality time.   Small inputs can have significant outcomes in times of hardship.  It’s not complex or difficult, desperately needed, and without leaders to coordinate and gather support, we wouldn’t have this opportunity to serve these deserving young people.   

My hobbies and interests:

I enjoy a variety of things- 

-Pretty much anything to do with water; beach, river, pool, kayaking, SUP boarding, slip n slides 😉, you name it!  

-I love cooking and trying new recipes.  I like to try to ‘healthily’ traditional recipes without my kids noticing.  It works on occasion. 

-Live music, especially the free kind

-Gardening. I love plants that volunteer (make more on their own) and I don’t mind yard work.  It’s therapeutic and visually rewarding.  

My passions and gifts:

-Resilience 

-Spending time with my family and friends

-Sharing smiles and laughs.  It makes me happy to make other happy 

-Problem solving, organizing, and planning 

-Seeing the good in people and situations through it all

-Helping others learn and grow, while acknowledging where I can too
