I’m 31 years old and for 15 years Chicktime has been apart of my life every month. I am so thankful that I was able to grow up serving through Chicktime and learning how to have a servant’s heart from my mom. Chicktime comes naturally for me and feels like home when I’m serving. I love being with the kids and trying to create a little piece of heaven on earth while I’m there.
My hope is to spread awareness to the people in our community so that more people can volunteer. If there are more volunteers, there will be more regular faces who fall in love which means more visits and mentorship for the kids. These kids are incredible and deserve loving humans to love them unconditionally. We all do. I hope to create an environment of unconditional love at our chapter where we can all get our cups filled and go out into the world to be the hands and feet of God everywhere we go.
Tara Chapman Johnson stepped in to lead Chicktime New Braunfels Downtown when a new leadership was needed to keep the chapter going. Once she secured the chapter with her overwhelming love and grace she handed over the reigns of Managing Leader to Katy Burleson and stayed on the leadership team as one of the co-leaders for the chapter. Tara has been dedicated to Chicktime since it was founded and loves every aspect of the mission and what it stands for! She often can be found serving every local chapter in the San Antonio /New Braunfels/Canyon Lake and Boerne area. Tara believes deeply that all children need love and positive attention and that is why she gives so generously to Chicktime as a leader of Chicktime New Braunfels Downtown and a volunteer to all of the other local chapters.
Brittney Ferguson led the chapter with the branch serving at SJRC (young mother program) from 2019-2023 when SJRC closed the campus location Brittney and her team served. Brittney was drawn to make when she became a mom and realized how unexpectedly hard it was. As she adjusted and grew, she felt God calling her to serve other young mothers. She is passionate about helping young women who are struggling with the obstacles life has thrown at them and letting them know how much they are loved and valued.
Chapter Founder: Deborah Smith
Deborah Smith was the founder and first managing leader of Chicktime New Braunfels. She joined the Chicktime family in 2018 as the Founding Chapter Leader of Chicktime New Braunfels at SJRC Texas. She felt God had a special place for her to devote her time and energy and had a calling to start another Chapter in New Braunfels at Connections in 2019. Deborah moved away from Chicktime leadership to take care of family, but occasionally comes back to volunteer.
