Why I serve a leadership role with Chicktime:
If there was one word that could explain why I become a leader for Chicktime, it’d be self-love. It’s a word that took me a while to understand as well as being something I work on every day. A few years ago, I was in an abusive and extremely toxic relationship that left every part of me in shambles. In its aftermath, I found that I was blaming myself for elements that I couldn’t control, and this spiral of negativity prevented me from starting my recovery journey. For a while, I felt completely alone because I was afraid to be criticized for loving someone that everyone tried to warn me about. For a while I felt this loneliness, but that was until I learned of the Serenity Prayer.
“God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time; enjoying one moment at a time; accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him forever in the next. Amen.“
From that point on, my life completely changed. I went to therapy, sought out various help groups, and finally opened up to my friends and family about my past experiences. With all encounters, I was met with love. Fast forward to present day, I am making great progress with my own self-confidence, I am rebuilding my future and pursuing my goals, and have been in an amazing and loving relationship with a wonderful man. I became a leader with Chicktime because I never want anyone to feel that they are alone or that no one understands the predicaments that they face. I want to promote an environment that allows for self-love and healing to take place.
