The Fort Worth Chapter is excited to announce that we have a new charity partner, Safe Haven of Tarrant County.
If you are not familiar with SafeHaven, SafeHaven is the largest and most comprehensive agency in Tarrant County providing services at no cost to domestic violence victims. SafeHaven provides 24-hour care at two emergency shelters in Arlington and Fort Worth to families fleeing violent situations. The holistic shelters provide a comprehensive continuum of care for the women and children who would otherwise be forced to remain in dangerous situations.
At this time, SafeHaven is in need of volunteers to assist/facilitate activities at a monthly support group for women and children at their transitional housing program. The event occurs on the 2nd Tuesday of every month at Pantego Bible Church and we would be working with the children while the parents attend the group. The support group takes place from 6:00-8:00 pm and SafeHaven we could utilize roughly 5-8 volunteers each month.
Patricia and I very excited about this opportunity and wanted to share the information with women of our chapter. Our goal is to begin working with the support group at their July meeting so in order be prepared, SafeHaven has asked our group to attend an orientation on June 18th from 9am to 12pm at their Fort Worth office. If you will be able to attend the June 18th orientation, please sign up on the Fort Worth Events Calendar on the Chicktime website by Jun 17th.
If you are unable to attend the June orientation, there will be another orientation in Mid-August if that works better for some of the group.
We hope that many of you will be able to attend so you can learn more about this wonderful organization and the various ways they are blessing our community.
