Hope You’re Hungry

November Update:

November 2025

This month’s workshop was a sweet treat indeed!! Our workshop leader, Melissa Garcia, surprised the kids at the Roy Maas Children’s Shelter with some extremely delicious, freshly baked sugar cookies to decorate and enjoy for the fall season!

The room was filled with laughter, creativity, and the sweet smell of baked treats. The children had a great time choosing from colorful icings, lots of sprinkles, and candy toppings (the most fabulous) to make pumpkins, leaves, and their own unique creations!

While the kids picked from different colored icings, and decorative toppings, Ms. Melissa shared some details about her love for baking and some of her shortcuts and icing techniques, which we ALL loved learning about!

The expressions and excitement on the children’s faces were priceless!! Several of them even shared stories behind each of their masterpieces, which was such a gift!

A special thanks to Melissa for sharing her love for creating fabulous decorated sugar cookies and for bringing some pretty tasty donuts and strawberry/chocolate milk, and OJ for the kids to enjoy, it definitely hit the spot!

A huge thank you to our extraordinary repeat volunteers Matti and Samantha and a big welcome to our newest volunteer Kayleigh. Your willingness to show up with open hearts, helping hands and lots of love for our children at the shelter, makes moments like these so incredibly special!! We love you!
