February Highlights
We are off to a great start this year here at Chicktime (Mesa)! I am in awe at the number of women that have come forward to help the hurting children in our community. (Did you know we have over 100 volunteer members here at Chicktime Mesa?) Some of these women have come with “hearts on fire” to get involved! I am ever so grateful for you! Our calendar for 2014 is almost entirely full with leaders for each month, and the activities planned are so thoughtful. I am so excited to see all that our group accomplishes this year.
Did you know May will be our second month that we will have both the Middlers and Big Kids together? Our goal is to get to the point where we are able to run activities for both wings of the children’s home. WE CAN DO IT! 🙂
A BIG THANK YOU to Erica A for putting on the BEST puppet show for the Middlers on Saturday. Check out the photos! Erica had some of the 12-13 yr old girls from church help make the puppet theatres out of cereal boxes and parchment paper. The kids cut out shapes of the characters from the beloved Humpty Dumpty story. The shapes were then glued to colored popsicle sticks. The kids decorated the front of their theatre with pom poms, stickers, glitter glue etc. Then the REAL fun – Erica brought little table lamps for each of the kiddos – and their shadow puppets came to life! Aren’t they just TOO CUTE? The kiddos got to keep their table lamps and puppet theatres…and Erica left a poster board behind of the nursery rhyme.
