October Update:

We had a wonderful time planning the next baby shower and stuffing tote bags with goodies for the new moms at the pregnancy center over lunch this past month. A big shout out to Jeanette, Barb and Chris! Jeanette baked delicious homemade brownies, Chris funded the gift cards for the moms and Barb sewed the tote bags, bibs, and burp clothes! After our delightful time together, we delivered a catered meal to the moms and staff at the center before their class. We were able to spend time with the moms, hear their stories, and support their journeys!
It is just so humbling to be near and support moms in such a vulnerable season. They are reaching out for help and it is such a blessing to say to them, ‘I am here, you are no alone.’
If you like spending time with like-minded friends determined to love others well, please consider joining us one month. And if are unable to join us but still want to come alongside the moms perhaps consider mailing a donation to help purchase the gifts for upcoming baby showers (we help host 4 baby showers each year), or maybe help fund one of the monthly meals we deliver to the center.
Joyfully,

September Update:

We hope you can join us soon, we have the best time together planning ways to delight the young moms (and dads) who chose LIFE as we serve the Eastside Pregnancy Care Center!

We are in full swing planning the center’s October baby shower so please let us know if you would like to contribute. We need cash donations to go towards Wal Mart gift cards for the new moms, gently used cribs, strollers, high chairs, bassinets, and all of the sweet things new moms need to care for their babies.

Please share these needs with your friends, families, churches, book clubs, and more if you feel moved to support moms who chose life:

  • tax deductible donations (to purchase gift cards for the baby shower) can be made by sending a check made out to Chicktime to 318 Canterbury Hill St, San Antonio, TX 78209
  • gently used baby furniture, strollers, etc can be dropped off directly at the Eastside Pregnancy Care Center, 314 N. Hackberry St., San Antonio, TX 78202. Contact the center @ 210-650-2423 for drop off hours.

We hope you can join us next month for lunch and love! After lunch we deliver a meal to the young mom’s gathering for their pregnancy class and have the option to stay and help with needs around the center.

August Update:

The center was closed so we did not have a workshop.

Our August workshop scheduled for this Wednesday, August 13th has been canceled. The center is closed. Please be on the look out for details for our September workshop coming soon. We hope you will mark your calendars now.

We meet on the 2nd Wednesday of the month!

Blessings,

July Update:

Chicktime in July was a delightful day of adventure! Our Chicktime volunteers were able to fill in for the staff volunteers who were on vacation and had the opportunity to get to know one of the girls (Faith) and her little boy who came to the center for pregnancy/parenting classes. We truly enjoyed sitting with Faith and hearing her story. She is expecting twin girls later this year. Faith’s husband served in the US Navy and suffers from debilitating back pain and it is our hope to raise enough money to gift Faith and her family with a triple stroller before the twins are born. If you or anyone you know has a gently used triple stroller in good condition or can contribute towards a new one please reach out to Lori@Rhodes.com.

If you are drawn to help with your time, please spread the word that the Center is still looking for a sonographer or nurse (RN or LVN) the center can send for sonography certification. The center is also looking for front desk volunteers to welcome clients and help with simple administrative tasks. More than anything, the center is asking for prayers to meet the needs of the families they serve.

Thank you to all who helped us collect baby wipes for our July donation drive and for the special donation that allowed us to get a refrigerator for the center. How wonderful to bless the center and the people they serve.

Something small and fun, the center is low on burp cloths (cloth diapers make great burp cloths) and would also love our help organizing the clothes bins in their boutique. So if you can join us next month, please know you are needed!!

We love you and are so grateful you take the time to partner with us in learning what the center needs and helping as you are able through your much needed prayers and time/recourses when you can!

June Update:

We continue to feel the blessing and provision of our volunteers each month as we show up to make a difference with San Antonio’s Eastside Pregnancy Center. The center established just a few years ago and is truly in its infancy but growing and making an impact on the Eastside. We learn more and more each month and grow more deeply connected and determined to help the all-volunteer staff achieve the goal of providing pregnancy support to new moms (and dads) making their way towards becoming families.
This month we learned their volunteer nurse is retiring and dealing with some health issues which leaves a HUGE gap. The center is looking for a mature godly female RN to volunteer 4 hours (preferable on Fridays) to care for the young pregnant moms coming in for care. Funding is secured to provide sonography training and accreditation if needed. If anyone comes to mind who would like more information please let us know and we can get her in touch with the right people to learn more! Additional funding is available if needed to compensate the RN $25 per hour, which is far below the value but all the budget can accommodate at this time.
Something basic we want to bless the center with is a full size refrigerator. Their current refrigerator is the small dorm style and not large enough to accommodate the expanding needs of the center. They provide multiple classes a week and provide lunch and snacks. We found a brand new overstock that will work well, delivered the price is $729. If you can help, please mail your deductible donation made out to Chicktime to 318, Canterbury Hill St., San Antonio, TX 78209. You can also make your donation through PayPal using this link: https://www.paypal.com/donate/…
Something small we are collecting for the center this month: Diaper Wipe donations. Bring them to Chicktime next month or you can drop them off at Pear Street Church located at 1102 N. Cherry Street, San Antonio, TX 78202 on Wednesdays between 10am-3pm.
Hope you can join us next month and bring friends. Our current format is enjoying lunch together while the center shares updates on happenings, joys, and challenges. We exchange ideas and collaborate solutions. It is really lovely they way the center is open to the community coming together to make a difference in the lives of the young moms choosing life. Afterwards we have the option of staying for an hour or so and helping with hand-of needs around the center.

May Update:

What an amazing experience this month at the Eastside Pregnancy Center! A special thank you to Beth Ann Erhardt for making an absolutely delicious Strawberry and Cream Angel Food cake to share! The sweetness set the stage for relaxed conversation and dream sharing. The dedicated all volunteer staff at the center sat down with us over lunch and shared their hearts and stories and biggest needs at the center.
We heard about the young pregnant mom who came in with her boyfriend last week, determined to drive out of state the following day to terminate their pregnancy but wanted a sonogram before making the trip. The pregnancy center met with the couple and after coming in and ‘seeing’ their baby, they were overjoyed to be parents. They left with hope for the future of their family, and a renewed sense of commitment to each other. They start pregnancy and parenting classes at the center next week. The Eastside Pregnancy Care Center is committed to serving their families throughout their pregnancies and follow up for the first few years after the baby is born. We were all blown away by their love and compassion for the young mothers (and fathers) and their babies.
Please share these needs with your friends, families, churches, book clubs, and more if you feel moved:
-donations to repair the sonogram’s heartbeat monitor so new parents can ‘hear’ and ‘see’ their child. Budget $2000
-size 4 & 5 diapers and wipes
Diaper/wipe drop off-
Pearl Street Church
1102 N Cherry St, San Antonio, TX 78202 Wednesday’s 10am-3pm.
Monetary donations can be made online and go directly to the Eastside Pregnancy Care Center: https://eastsidepregnancy.com/donate/
We hope you can join us next month for lunch and love!

April Update:

Our “silent” workshop was held in April to work out the kinks and get a better understanding of our role from here on out.

We dropped off food, listened and loved. We are so excited about our new partnership! We hope you will reach out and join us one month!
