Chicktime Katy has New Leadership!

Welcome to the newly re-established Chicktime Katy chapter. I’m Sarah Garay. My husband and I pastor a Spanish speaking congregation in Katy, TX. Over our thirty years of ministry, we have been asked to help in extremely complex issues. Our unsuccessful search for Spanish speaking resources in our community led to both of us seeking advanced degrees to provide much needed help to a hurting community. In 2011, I became licensed in professional counseling and marriage and family therapy.

Through my work in family therapy at the Fort Bend County Women’s Center, I have found that role modeling is key to breaking the transgenerational transmission of family violence and sexual abuse. I have been praying and searching for ways to expose the precious survivors of trauma to healthy, loving families.

I first heard about Chicktime through my daughter, Bethany. Through her Child and Family Development studies at Texas State University, she had learned of the Chicktime model and said, “Mom, I think you need to come see this.” I did and the rest is history.
