Why I serve a leadership role with Chicktime:
When Lori announced at the August 2013 event that she would like a 4th leader for our Canyon Lake chapter I thought about it for a week, then I volunteered. I found Chicktime on the internet. I was looking for volunteer work that my daughter, Katy and I could do together. Since we found Chicktime, I have been consistently volunteering since February of 2013 and I look forward to it every month. I can’t wait to see the girls at New Life and I feel that they like to see us every month as well. I believe it is important to be there every month because in my mind, it demonstrates consistency for the girls that live there and I think it could give them a sense of reassurance to see the same people come back month after month. It is an indescribable feeling when one of the girls remembers me and gives me a hug. I guess the reason I decided to serve a leadership role with Chicktime is selfish. It makes me feel good!
My passions and gifts:
If you ask my friends at work or my daughter and her friends they would say my passion is Chicktime. I talk about it whenever I get the chance. I try to encourage others to join us and participate at New Life. I have a knack for organizing things which helps when getting ready for my month to lead the station. I also really enjoy helping people.
Hobbies and Interests:
My main interest is of course is my family. I love to spend time with my husband and my daughter. We enjoy shopping, cooking, and watching movies or TV together. I also enjoy scrap booking and card making. I am trying to get back into sewing, which is something I loved to do but finding the time lately is difficult. I also enjoy participating in Toastmasters. As a member of the North San Antonio club, I am learning a great deal about public speaking and leadership. I also enjoy my job as a manager, which is very challenging and interesting.

Why I serve a leadership role with Chicktime:
First of all, let me say that I serve on the leadership team of the Canyon Lake chapter for very different reasons than I serve Chicktime, Inc (our parent organization). For the Canyon Lake chapter, I serve because I love the camaraderie of the productive chaos of Chicktime mornings at New Life ( a home for 80 girls in residential treatment). Of course the children are incredible and I feel blessed beyond measure when I spend time with them, but I don’t need Chicktime for that… there are children in need of love and care every moment of every day. I love problem solving and we always seem to have a frantic crisis while navigating our mornings utilizing rooms throughout the massive campus… Someone gets locked out, no soap in the kitchen, not enough of the chocolate snacks. I know these things sound silly but it makes me happy to be needed. I’ve been there so long… I know where to find the man with the keys, where they keep the stash of soap, and have the guts to multiply the chocolate by cutting them all in half! I feel like my presence lets the leaders focus on their programs, I feel like I bring peace to the process. I enjoy being the gopher. The reason I ‘do’ Chicktime every single day in my role as founder and president of Chicktime, Inc… I feel called by my God. He has shown me that every woman on this planet has an incredible gifting meant to serve her local and/or global community. I am dedicated to loving each and everyone by using what He has given me to help ‘her’ go where He is calling her to go.
My passions and gifts:
I like to organize processes. I like to create processes. I serve our chapter and Chicktime, Inc. by coming up with ways to accomplish what we set out to do. I’m also a visionary, I see clearly where Chicktime is going and I hope that I help our members and leaders see that too… so that they understand their part is a piece of a bigger story… The story of hope and restoration for the children (and the widows, the abused, and the broken people) we serve… and each other.
Hobbies and Interests:
I am married to the most magnificent (and sometimes trying) man on planet earth! Mike and I have been married for 22 years and have three children, two in college and one still at home. I love to read and write, tend my gardens, keep my home, hill country drives, listen to music and rock on my porch! My happiest days are spent doing absolutely nothing while hanging out with my family and friends. I am very interested in people and helping them discover what they were meant to do with their lives. I’m selfish really, I want the next generation to have a better world and that can’t happen if the current generation isn’t fulfilling their potential. I really want people to find true happiness and that can’t happen if they are living frustrated unfulfilled lives. I just truly enjoy helping people.

Why I serve a leadership role with Chicktime:
Inspired by my father’s heart for serving others as a missionary in Venezuela, I’ve discovered a passion in myself to want to serve others with the gifts that God has given me. Chicktime gives me the opportunity to encourage other women to recognize the beauty and gifts inside each of them. It also allows me to participate in the lives of both the women in my community and the girls at New Life, not just by sharing my time, my love, and my passions with them, but to give them the freedom to discover their own passions… the gifts that God himself placed inside each of us.
My passions and gifts:
My passion is art and graphic design…or anything that involves creating something of visual interest. I also enjoy watching others create. I believe art can be an open window to a person’s soul. When I create something it comes from within me… not just from my mind but also from my heart. Art in any form is like a glimpse into the soul, a way to visually share our self with others when we can’t find the words.
Hobbies and Interests:
I enjoy spending time with my family, especially my niece and nephews and time to invest in others and causes that are dear to my heart. I enjoy creating art (all forms), making crafts, decorating, gardening, traveling, entertaining, and just being outdoors in nature.

Why I serve a leadership role with Chicktime:
Growing up in church, I was always passionate about serving in Children’s Ministry; Vacation Bible School, Sunday School, and working in the nursery during service. When I met Liz for the first time and she told me about Chicktime, I just teared up and felt a tug on my heart strings. Building relationships with the girls at New Life and having them remember your name because you have made an impact in their lives is a completely unmatched feeling. Most of these girls are looking for love and if we can provide them with a little bit of that to help get them through whatever is happening in their life, we are making a difference. One of the things people remember the most is how someone made them feel – they may not remember the specific stations or games we played, but they will remember how we made them feel while spending time with them once a month.
My passions and gifts:
I’d consider myself an organized person who really enjoys simplifying and improving chaos. My job, which I’ve very passionate about, is centered around process improvement and people interaction. One of my gifts is being a positive person that likes to add humor into many situations (some would call me “goofy”). It takes a lot to embarrass me, so if someone needs to be in a costume or demonstrating the chicken dance, I will volunteer my services.
Hobbies and Interests:
I have varied hobbies that include volleyball, rowing, kickboxing, reading, crafting, designing floorplans and cooking. You can also find me walking around the ranch with (and snuggling) my 3 dogs. I am a foodie, so one of my favorite things is to explore new restaurants with my friends. I take my job as Aunt Rachel very seriously and try to spend as much time as I can with my niece and nephew. I’m very close to my family and enjoy the small-town life in the Texas Hill Country.

Why I serve a leadership role with Chicktime:
I enjoy being around the girls and listening to their background and where they’ve come from. I love how the girls are always excited and looking forward to Chicktime. I love hanging out with the girls and doing crafts together and see their imagination grow.
My passions and gifts:
I’m good at making people feel comfortable. I’m a good listener. I’m very passionate toward others. My personality is very easy going. I’m patient toward others. I include other people to make them feel comfortable and I’m not afraid to approach people that are shy.
Hobbies and Interests:
I enjoy traveling, doing art and spending time with my friends. I think I get the artsy side from my sister. I’ve been to so many places around the world but I think my favorite place would be Colorado. I love the weather, the beautiful mountains and snow. My friends and I always have the best time together. I actually took one of my friends to Disney World with me. I also love coming to Chicktime. It gives me something to do instead of just sitting around doing nothing on Saturdays. I’m incredibly lucky to be offered this opportunity to be a co-leader at Chicktime.
